Pass The Freedom to Vote Act Now!

QUICK READ: We need to pass the Freedom to Vote Act now. The bill’s aim: make voting in federal elections easier and counter fraudulent actions and barriers to legal voting. This is the political model of representative democracy to which citizens have long agreed.

CONTENTS:

BACKGROUND

For years now, MAGA Republicans have systematically undermined faith in electoral outcomes. In particular, they have already planted seeds of election denialism before a single Presidential vote has been cast. This “supercharged distrust” is destabilizing and may lead to violence and damage to our democracy.

Moreover, since 2020, holding fair elections has been made even tougher in certain states through legal and extralegal efforts to deliberately suppress the vote, mislead voters, engage foreign intervention, deliberately miscount votes, or otherwise bar legitimate results. This is troubling given our nation’s future might be determined by a handful of swing states.

The Freedom to Vote Act is clear and concise. It aims to counter fraudulent actions and barriers to legal voting thereby merely reinforcing the representative democracy to which all citizens have long agreed.

Thus, it makes Election Day a federal holiday. It expands voter registration and access. It protects election integrity and ensures that U.S. citizens may vote regardless of past criminal offenses. It establishes negative consequences for attempts to corrupt, interfere with, or prevent people from voting, and guards elections through fair redistricting rules and full disclosure behind campaign finance, including by foreign nationals.

We need to pass this Act to allay further distrust surrounding federal elections and instability.
