ABOUT INDIVISIBLE OREGON

The power of the people is stronger than the people in power.”

WHO WE ARE

Indivisible Oregon is volunteer-run organization that empowers Oregonians to defy the Trump agenda. Volunteers started Indivisible Oregon in January of 2017. We are primarily based in Portland, but we exchange resources with groups across the state. While we are independent, we follow national guidance from the experts at Indivisible and Swing Left and we are proud to be active in their nationwide networks.

WHO WE ARE NOT

Indivisible Oregon is one of dozens of volunteer-led grassroots Indivisible groups in Oregon and thousands across the country. While we often partner with other groups, we are not a hub for Indivisible groups in Oregon. That need is met deftly by the Consolidated Oregon Indivisible Network (COIN).

Some community members have asked about Indivisible Oregon’s connections to rallies in general and Rose City Indivisible’s in particular. Please find more information here.

WHAT WE VALUE

  • A participatory democracy with a government that works for the people.

  • Respect, diversity, fairness, and a place for everyone at the table.

  • Nonviolent engagement in all public spaces.

  • Creating opportunities for constructive civic engagement.

WHAT WE DO

OUR STORY

Indivisible Oregon (IO) was founded by a handful of experienced volunteer activists in January 2017, as part of a nationwide groundswell of anti-Trump activism. We immediately began hosting weekly “Resist Trump Tuesdays” at our U.S. Senators’ courtyards in Portland. Our group grew quickly when increasing numbers of participants joined these events and jumped in to organize.

Indivisible Oregon volunteer leaders have been organizing events and actions almost nonstop every month for over 8 years.  We have also been an active Swing Left group since early 2017.

OUR NETWORKS

Indivisible Oregon is proud to partner with other Indivisible and activist groups in Portland Metro and across Oregon since our founding.

  • We co-host events, share resources, and promote each other’s work.

  • Many of our volunteers are also leaders in other local groups like COIN, Act for Democracy, UnitedPower PDX, Indivisible Cedar Mill, Fridays at 4, Indivisible Hillsboro, and dozens of others over the years.

  • We value our strong ties with the Indivisible community and enjoy lifting others.  We believe our movement is strongest when we stand united against Trump and MAGA.

OUR STRUCTURE

  • Indivisible Oregon is able to do this work thanks to a dedicated community of about 20-30 volunteer leaders who plan and implement activities.

  • IO’s teams evolve based on volunteer interest. Current teams include Events, Policy, Communications, Voter Outreach, Bridgebuidling, and Tech.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
