Americans across the country are rising up to defy Trump’s power-grab and intimidation tactics, and we expect the same of our Members of Congress. They must refuse to vote for—and do everything they can to block—funding for Trump’s unconstitutional power grabs, even if it means a government shutdown for which Trump and Republicans, who refuse to seek bipartisan solutions, will be blamed.

It is unconscionable Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell went unpunished for so long and their high-rolling enablers and clients are still being protected. Full disclosure of the DOJ’s file will help Congress craft legislation both to combat sex trafficking and to protect survivors.

In attempting a hostile takeover of our nation’s capital, Trump’s overridden local laws, deployed the National guard without DC’s consent, seized control of its police and immigration policies, flooded it with reassigned federal law enforcement, razed houseless encampments and imprisoned inhabitants, turned misdemeanors into federal felonies with long jail sentences, and terrorized the local population—an authoritarian power grab meant to demonstrate his power and normalize the future presence and unlawful use of the military in blue-state cities. Congress must stop him before it’s too late.

Unconstrained by the MAGA Congress and the SCOTUS supermajority, Trump’s illegal acts are destroying our core freedoms and our democracy and attempting to turn America into a fascist state. Millions of Americans, so far without the help of the majority of Democratic lawmakers, have taken to the streets to try to save our faltering democracy. The Democratic Caucuses in Congress cannot continue doing business as usual. Instead, they must become leaders of and participants in the emerging grassroots movement.

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. cut $500 million in mRNA vaccine development this week, claiming falsely that mRNA vaccines don’t perform. The scientific community disputes Kennedy’s claim emphatically and warns his action will stifle our ability to respond quickly to both future pandemics and public health emergencies, thereby putting millions of lives at risk. 

At last Friday’s meeting in Alaska, Trump revealed himself as Putin’s fawning supplicant, rolling out the red carpet for this war criminal. On Monday, Zelensky, accompanied by the leaders of the EU, NATO, Germany, France, Britain, and Italy, tried, largely unsuccessfully, to change  Trump’s perspective. Towards this end, our MoCs must immediately begin pressuring the Trump administration to: (1) support Ukraine with a ceasefire agreement that maintains Ukraine’s control over its territory, (2) continue to provide the necessary military and diplomatic assistance required to ensure Ukraine’s independence, and (3) respect Ukraine’s input and not bow to Putin’s agenda in any peace deal it brokers. 

Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, and America is complicit. Since October 2023, the US has sent over $30 billion in weapons to the Israeli military which were used to kill at least 55,000 Palestinians and to starve and displace millions. Congress cannot continue ignoring the images and reports from Gaza which are more horrific every day.
