Background

It’s time to start building a better country.

It will require work in three areas simultaneously: Reinforcing democracy, dismantling racism, and revitalizing the American community.

Reinforcing democracy will require many actions steps including:

Strengthening both the basic safeguards against presidential abuses and the checks and balances between the legislative and executive branches.
Restoring accountability with investigations of those who have undermined the Constitution and the rule of law.
Passing ethics reforms across the federal government.

Dismantling racism, which is deeply rooted and effectively used to divide us, starts by:

Ending the voter suppression that prevents racial minorities, the elderly and youth access to voting.
Requiring police reform including racial bias training and ending “qualified immunity,” which shields officers from misconduct.

Revitalizing our shared community begins by:

Restructuring the economy to end wealthy favoritism and help the middle class.
Caring for the impoverished by strengthening communities.
Strengthening public grade schools and lower financial barriers to advanced education.

We’ve learned over these last four years that democracy needs constant attention from us. Fighting Trump is ending, but our work to build a better country is just beginning. Call and enlist your MOC in building a better America.
