Actions
Make an impact in 2 minutes
have a big impact
Make a two-minute phone call to your U.S. Representative and your U.S. Senators and urge them to take specific action on a timely issue. We provide scripts to make it easy. Just select one of the Actions below to get started.
Why is this so important? Our phone calls fire up our Members of Congress, stiffen their spines, and push them to fight harder. We let them know that we're paying attention – and we have their back when they go out on a limb. Make sure to call your own U.S. Representative and both Senators – they are the ones who represent you!
PRES BIDEN, VP HARRIS, AND CONGRESS – WORK FOR PROGRESS AND JUSTICE
Today we inaugurate President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. After years of organizing, we won the White House, the Senate, and the House of Representatives. Now is the time to lead. We are counting on President Biden, Vice President Harris, and a Democratic-led Congress to create progressive change and bring our country justice.
CONGRESS MUST FIX THE FLAWS IN OUR DEMOCRACY
Tomorrow is a new day for America. The list of urgent actions is packed. The most crucial is Biden’s Covid response plan. But as we dig out of the Trump era, we cannot leave unattended the vulnerabilities that nearly toppled our democracy. Our progressive agenda reinforces democracy.
Remembrance & Hope
Today we remember MLK's legacy and celebrate hope -- hope that, working together in service to our shared community, we can move forward with new leadership to create a more racially, economically, and environmentally just society. Join us in a day of service (in-person or remote), a week celebrating hope, and our on-going advocacy for justice.
Victory Isn’t Just the Election. It’s the Legislation.
The voters delivered a slim trifecta to Democrats. Making good on the winners’ legislative promises is possible only if the Senate ends the filibuster. Democrats need only 51 votes and some parliamentary maneuvering.
CONGRESS MUST PROTECT US FROM TREASON AND COVID
Amid a global pandemic and under the siege of a fascist president and Republican party, we organized and voted in a democratic President, Vice President, House, and Senate. We organized to fight back against white supremacy, fascism, Trump, and his GOP. Now we must work to help Congress protect our democracy and protect us from COVID.
THE TIME FOR DC STATEHOOD IS NOW
The city of Washington was, and is, endangered by violent white supremacists. Last week, unlike state governors, Mayor Bowser was forced to plead with the Pentagon to use DC’s own National Guard to defend the Capitol. Republicans oppose statehood for the same reason they support gerrymandering. It’s voter suppression of American citizens in a largely Black city. And it’s a willingness to leave that city vulnerable to violence in order to maintain that suppression.
POLICE RACISM IN RESPONSE TO WHITE INSURRECTIONISTS
Today we are asking Congress to remove the seditionists, including more than 100 House Republicans; fight voter suppression ; and root out police racism. Details below.
ACCOUNTABILITY FOR ATTEMPTED COUP IS PREREQUISITE FOR STRENGTHENING DEMOCRACY
To ensure no repeat of Wednesday’s attempted coup, Congress must demand accountability for all colluders and enact legislation precluding such behavior.
ALL ATTEMPTING OR ENABLING THE ELECTION’S OVERTHROW MUST BE PUNISHED
Georgia’s election of two Democratic Senators yesterday should have been a time for celebrating. Instead, we saw a Trump-incited attempted coup abetted by GOP co-conspirators—by a rioting mob of white supremacist terrorists and by members of Congress—both trying to overturn the election.
It’s Time to Heal AND Strengthen Our Democracy
We deserve elected officials who care about democracy. Trump and his GOP commit treason and sedition to hold on to minority rule. There must be consequences for this treason now.
THERE MUST BE CONSEQUENCES FOR TREASON

OUR NEXT JOB, BUILDING A BETTER AMERICA
It’s time to start building a better country. It will require work in three areas simultaneously: Reinforcing democracy, dismantling racism, and revitalizing the American community. We’ve learned over these last four years that democracy needs constant attention from us. Fighting Trump is ending, but our work to build a better country is just beginning. Call and enlist your MOC in building a better America.
MOVING FORWARD
As we move into a new year and a new Administration there’s much to feel hopeful about. More Americans are getting vaccinated every day. We can work for an end to medical racism that has caused COVID to ravage Black communities. A COVID relief bill was finally passed. At the same time, Trump is pardoning criminals who lied and obstructed justice on his behalf. He is encouraging violence, and his seditious supporters are attempting a coup. We can demand a more robust relief bill and accountability.
AS 2020 DRAWS TO A CLOSE...
The policy team will be taking a much-needed rest from December 25th through January 1st. During this interlude Indivisible Oregon will continue to provide opportunities for election work in GA to flip the Senate blue. And Indivisible maintains a website where you can record your COVID-19 stories and our MoCs can listen to how their constituents have been affected.
Why call your Members of Congress
Members of Congress have told us repeatedly that our calls matter. When they meet with their colleagues in Congress, they say "I'm getting swamped with calls about this illegal power grab. We need to take action."
If you're represented by Democrats: They are our best defense in Washington DC. They can throw sand in the gears of the Trump regime by using tools such as parliamentary procedures. And they have the power to call attention to particular issues via press, social media, special events. In short: our elected officials have power, and we must push them to wield it.
If you're represented by Republicans: Our calls let them know just how unpopular their actions are. We make them nervous, even if they don't show it. We make it hard for them to take actions that hurt Americans.
Calling tips
State your name, your zip code or neighborhood, and why you're calling
Stick to one issue per call
Don't worry about getting pulled into a debate -- the staffer will simply document your message.
Be respectful. The person on the other end of the line is likely a staffer who handles numerous calls daily. Being polite makes your message more likely to be heard and taken seriously.
Use personal stories when possible. When you share how an issue affects you personally, or why it matters to you, your message is more likely to resonate and be remembered.
