IMPEACH PETE HEGSETH BEFORE HE MAKES ANYTHING EVEN WORSE
QUICK READ: Pete Hegseth’s tenure as Defense Secretary has been a disaster. He’s mismanaged and destroyed the Defense Department—purging much of the command structure, radicalizing the troops to adopt his genocidal Christian Nationalism, punishing disfavored military advice, retaliating against those opposing his illegal wars, withholding pertinent information from the press, and forcing the military to commit war crimes. BACKGROUND
Over the last several days, a deranged President Trump committed war crimes by ordering our military to bomb Iran “back to the Stone Age”—destroying bridges, power plants, desalination stations, and other critical civilian infrastructure.
Why wasn’t his Defense Secretary—a power-tripping warmonger who thinks war is a big video game—telling him these were war crimes, rather than improperly labeling them legitimate military targets?
Because, he, too, was flagrantly violating the law of war all officers must follow, as he’d done earlier in the Caribbean.
From Day One, Pete Hegseth’s been mismanaging and destroying the Defense Department:
Transforming the Pentagon into a staging ground for a religious crusade—imbuing violence with a religious righteousness and radicalizing troops to support his genocidal Christian Nationalist beliefs
Purging dozens of high-ranking officers and military lawyers and undermining merit-based promotions for political reasons
Retaliating against those objecting to his illegal wars against Venezuela and Iran and punishing military leaders who disagree with his policies
Denying journalists free access to DoD employees, criminalizing unauthorized news gathering, andwithholding information (even from Trump) about battles and casualties
Exonerating helicopter crews carrying out unauthorized flybys of anti-Trump protests before Army’s probe even began
Requiring service members in Iran to commit war crimes
He also may have tried to invest heavily in weapons stock shortly before the Iran War began.
Hegseth’s outrageous behavior places our military, our Constitution, and the global community at risk. Impeachment is the only option.
