***IMMEDIATE ACTION***ICE MUST BE IMMEDIATELY REINED IN AND EVENTUALLY DEFUNDED [5-19-25]
Trump is following Hitler’s playbook, using the Gestapo-like ICE as his personal secret police to round up, detain, and exterminate through rendition brown and black communities—just as their Nazi equivalents did to Jews and gypsies.
Daily we witness ICE’s cruel, violent, illegal acts—not just terrorizing communities, tearing families apart, and disappearing innocent people, but also targeting political dissidents and public officials rather than the hardened criminals Trump promised to deport:
Masked agents breaking into homes and kidnapping people off the streets;
Detaining US citizens and legal immigrants “appearing” undocumented and attendees at routine immigration appointments;
Kidnapping and renditioning permanent residents and student visa holders exercising First Amendment rights;
Arresting a mayor, a judge, and possibly Congresspeople
Despite Americans’ rejection of ICE’s militaristic lawlessness, Trump’s trying to steal $175 billion from necessary safety-net programs to:
Hire more ICE agents to traumatize our communities, tear families apart, and disappear our neighbors;
Enrich private-prison donors holding detainees in unsafe, abusive facilities, airlines illegally transporting them to foreign gulogs with horrible human rights records, and the autocratic rulers who accept them.
Our MoCs, if serious about stopping fascism, must do everything they can to prevent ICE’s further expansion and empowerment, while warning about accountability when they retake the House in 2026:
Investigate ICE abuses, name those responsible, and expose them daily on Bluesky;
Hold press conferences on the Capitol steps every Monday outlining these abuses and what Dems are doing to stop them;
Join lawsuits fighting ICE’s lawlessness;
Try reining in ICE during the reconciliation process and vote against increased funding.
