PROTECT US FROM TRUMP’S GESTAPO AND CONCENTRATION CAMPS

QUICK READ: Unsettling parallels between Nazi Germany and Trump’s vision for America cannot be ignored. Trump is using ICE, America’s Gestapo, as his personal police force to detain and disappear brown-skinned, mostly law-abiding immigrants based solely on their physical appearance and is gleefully looking forward to them being abused and tortured in ICE’s unaccountable, privately run concentration camps, like Alligator Auschwitz.

BACKGROUND

A massive escalation in federal immigrant enforcement is shaking the foundations of our democracy. Under Trump, ICE has morphed into a symbol of cruelty and fear—the muscle behind his authoritarianism, where people can be detained and disappeared solely based on their physical appearance and the color of their skin.

The chilling videos of ICE atrocities clearly demonstrate agents aren’t going after the “worst of the worst,” who are much harder to find than law-abiding immigrants going about their daily lives. Instead, as part of Trump’s unlawful attempts to whiten America, heavily armed, masked ICE agents, wearing no name tags and driving unmarked cars, have been abducting in broad daylight as many brown-skinned people as they can find; quickly moving them around so they cannot contact family members and attorneys; coercing them into self-deporting; or sending them to be mistreated and tortured at either unhealthy, unsanitary ICE concentration camps, mostly run by private prison companies with ties to the Trump administration, or overseas gulogs—in the process violating their due process rights, U.S. immigration laws, and international human rights treaties.

The $170 billion pumped into ICE, America’s Gestapo, by the MAGA Murder Bill, will make all this seem like mere child’s play—making congressional oversight more important than ever.

Now is no time for “business as usual.” American politicians, at all levels, must recognize the parallels with Nazi Germany and dedicate themselves to protecting our fragile democracy before it is too late.

Script for Oregon Senators

SEN. MERKLEY: Portland office: 503-326-3386 | D.C. office: 202-224-3753

My name is [--] and I'm a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code].

As your constituent, I am appalled that my taxes are being used to fund secret police and concentration camps which are inherently unamerican, and I demand that you do something about it. Specifically, I want you to: (1) Press for state and federal legislation prohibiting ICE agents from wearing masks and requiring them to identify themselves and their vehicles, like the VISIBLE Act (S.2212), No Anonymity in Immigration Enforcement Act (HR.4004), No Secret Police Act (HR.4176); (2) Attempt to claw back the bloated ICE budget being used to terrorize immigrant communities and to torture and abuse those detained, with the goal of entirely defunding America’s Gestapo; (3) Regularly exercise your statutory right to unannounced visits to ICE detention centers and concentration camps by using the Immigration Detention Oversight Toolkit, suing ICE if necessary to gain admission; (4) Use the information you receive to widely report the atrocities and misconduct Trump and ICE are trying so hard to hide; (5) Convince Oregon’s Governor, Tina Kotek, to call a special session to pass no-mask legislation, strengthen Oregon’s sanctuary laws, disallow construction of ICE concentration camps in the state, and otherwise protect all Oregonians from ICE’s unconstitutional overreaching.
