***IMMEDIATE ACTION***DON’T ALLOW TRUMP TO MAKE PUTIN’S RUSSIA GREAT AGAIN [8-20-25]
At last Friday’s meeting in Alaska, Trump revealed himself as Putin’s fawning supplicant. Despite Putin’s invasion of Ukraine and his horrific, barbaric war, Trump rolled out the red carpet for this war criminal, thereby ending his pariah status in the international community.
Before the meeting, Trump had insisted on an immediate cease-fire, warning that without it, he’d impose harsh new sanctions. Ignoring evidence that Putin intended to dismantle Ukraine piece by piece until it ceased to exist, Trump succumbed to Putin’s demand, instead, for a comprehensive peace agreement, which, because it would take months, if not years, to negotiate, would allow Russian forces to amass even more Ukrainian territory.
On Monday, Zelensky, accompanied by the leaders of the EU, NATO, Germany, France, Britain, and Italy, tried to prevent Trump from imposing a” take it or leave it solution.”
Nevertheless, Trump continued to propose policies drawn straight from Putin’s playbook—rejecting the need for an immediate cease-fire, awarding Russia territory beyond what it currently controls as part of a negotiated peace deal, and offering Ukraine only vague security assurances instead of admission into NATO.
And Trump’s continued assertions that Putin wants peace were proven false by Russian drone attacks on two Ukrainian cities just hours before this meeting.
Our MoCs must immediately begin pressuring the Trump administration to (1) support Ukraine with a ceasefire agreement that maintains Ukraine’s control over its territory, (2) continue to provide the necessary military and diplomatic assistance required to ensure Ukraine’s independence, and (3) respect Ukraine’s input and not bow to Putin’s agenda in any peace deal it brokers.
