***IMMEDIATE ACTION***CONGRESS MUST STOP TRUMP’S ILLEGAL WAR AGAINST VENEZUELA [01-01-2026]
Early Saturday morning, without Congress’ knowledge or authorization, the US military attacked a sovereign nation, bombing civilian and military sites around the capital, killing at least 80 Venezuelans, and kidnapped its head of state and his wife by dragging them out of their bedroom and transported them in handcuffs to New York.
Hours later, President Trump, a would-be authoritarian hoping to distract the world from his abysmal approval ratings and failing domestic policies, announced:
The US would “run the country” indefinitely, possibly with American troops;
A “second wave” of attacks if remaining leaders didn’t cooperate;
Control and exploitation of Venezuelan oil reserves to benefit his oil industries cronies;
Future similar actions towards Cuba, Mexico, and Columbia.
Since September, without seeking Congressional approval, the Trump administration has:
Bombed 36 boats in the Caribbean and Pacific, killing 117+ people;
Seized 2 tankers containing 1.8+ million barrels of Venezuelan oil and imposed a complete blockade;
Designated Venezuela’s elected government a “Foreign Terrorist Organization”— based on unsubstantiated claims and outright lies;Pushed regime change;
Conducted psychological warfare against the Venezuelan people.
In less than a year, without Congressional approval, Trump’s attacked Somalia, Iran, Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Nigeria and Venezuela, demonstrating his contempt for and brazen violations of domestic and international law, the UN Charter, and the US Constitution. While there’s no money for healthcare at home, unlimited funds exist for needless, expensive wars abroad.
Unless Congress and the American people loudly push back against this latest possibly endless war, Trump, Rubio, and Hegseth will escalate this violence elsewhere as well. Passing war powers resolutions to stop this illegal invasion must be Congress’ top priority.
