TODD BLANCHE: TOO CORRUPT AND DANGEROUS TO BE ATTORNEY GENERAL
QUICK READ: Todd Blanche, Trump’s most dangerous Cabinet nominee, has demonstrated by his willingness to carry out Trump’s illegal and unconstitutional orders why he’s completely unqualified to be Attorney-General. For his nomination to go forward after consideration by the Judiciary Committee on July 15 and 16, requires rejection of the long-held principle that the A-G is our lawyer, not the President’s and approval of the further weaponization of the DOJ against Trump’s perceived enemies. His confirmation must be stopped, either in committee on the Senate floor.

BACKGROUND
The Attorney General’s job is to uphold the rule of law, defend the Constitution, and serve the American people. Todd Blanche, Trump’s most dangerous Cabinet nominee, by willingly carrying out Trump’s illegal and unconstitutional orders, shows he’s completely unqualified for the job.
For 16 months, while auditioning for A-G as Deputy and then Acting Attorney-General, he’s used DOJ power and resources to pursue Trump’s perceived enemies while shielding him from legal accountability:
· Mishandling the Epstein files, ignoring victims, and improperly rewarding Giselle Maxwell a prison transfer for absolving Trump of wrongdoing;
· Using a bad-faith lawsuit to generate Trump’s $1.8 billion election deniers’ slush fund and protect his family and businesses from IRS compliance for which Blanche deserves sanctioning;
· Approving rendition of Venezuelan detainees to El Salvador, for which held in contempt;
· Vindictively prosecuting Kilmar Abrego Garcia;
· Refusing to recuse from conflicts;
· Moving to vacate Oath Keepers’ and Proud Boys’ convictions and trying to erase J6 history;
· Overseeing the largest talent exodus in DOJ history caused by his culture of fear and purging of career staff investigating Trump’s lawbreaking or ruling against him;
· Attacking and ignoring unfavorable judicial rulings and undermining independent oversight of DOJ attorneys by state bars;
· Frivolously investigating/prosecuting Trump’s enemies—Cassidy Hutchinson, James Comey (seashell case), ex-CIA director John Brennan, E. Jean Carroll, ActBlue, Southern Poverty Law Center—but not ICE agents’ use of force or Trump’s allies and supporters;
· Advancing conspiracy theories and lies, including election-denialism and false election-fraud allegations, labeling Minnesota leaders “terrorists,” and threatening reporters critical of Trump.
Americans deserve an Attorney-General who takes seriously his oath of office and has the independence and objectivity to protect our interests. Todd Blanche’s record clearly demonstrates he lacks these qualities.
ACTION One: Call the Senate.

My name is [--] and I'm a constituent from [city], Oregon [zip code].
Todd Blanche is absolutely unfit to be Attorney General and, as your constituent, I expect you to do everything in your power to prevent him from being confirmed. A judge just ordered sanctions against him for ethical violations, and it’s not the first time! He’s a dangerous, unfit nominee who would, if confirmed, do extreme harm to our democracy, the rule of law, and the DOJ itself. Please push members of the Judiciary Committee to (1) expose Blanche’s unfitness for this position, his unhealthy fealty to Trump, and his willingness to do whatever Trump wants even if illegal or unconstitutional, and (2) refuse to vote him out of Committee. If that doesn’t succeed, embarrass Blanche and his MAGA enablers on the Senate floor, and make sure the American people know which Senators are protecting their interests. In short, VOTE NO.

A judge just ordered sanctions against him for ethical violations, and it’s not the first time! His record—refusing to recuse from his own conflicts, trying to erase the January 6 judicial record, and using DOJ power for political ends disqualifies him. Members of both parties must be committed to ensuring the independence of any Attorney General. Since Todd Blanche’s behavior as Deputy and Acting Attorney General clearly violates this important principle, he must not be confirmed.

Acting Attorney General, Todd Blanche, has quietly given himself the power to send any federal prisoner anywhere—from a maximum-security prison for Trump’s perceived enemy to home confinement for Ghislaine Maxwell. This power has always belonged to the Bureau of Prisons, not to the AG or the DOJ. While Blanche is using it to cover up that he previously illegally moved her to a low security prison last year, it could be used for many improper redesignations in the future. Please take all necessary steps to return this power to the Bureau of Prisons.
