Widespread corruption and a total disregard for ethics and accountability across the Trump administration has left American families footing the bill with increased costs for groceries, gas, electricity, health care, and more. Since 2025, the Trump clan is $4 billion richer while the rest of us are $4 billion poorer. To protect the American people, Congress must fight corruption with all the weapons it has. Meanwhile, Trump’s take on the affordability crisis? “I don’t think about that.”

Faced with an out-of-control Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, who’s politicizing the military and destroying its command structure, and a $1.5 billion bloated Defense budget proposed by a President engaged in a badly mismanaged illegal and unconstitutional war in Iran, Congress cannot continue ignoring its constitutional duty. Instead, the Senate must continue opposing this obscene largest-than-ever military budget and the House must push for Hegseth’s immediate impeachment.

Trump’s attempts to take control of our independent state-run elections systems in order to lock in his power and escape accountability for his misdeeds and unpopular agenda are an existential threat to our democracy. Congress must do everything in its power to protect the 2026 midterm elections from Trump’s unconstitutional interference aimed at suppressing the vote and undermining the will of the voters.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s new policy, entitled “High-T Department of War,” mandates annual testosterone screening for military personnel over the age of 30 to evaluate deficiencies and offer testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) to those with low counts. There is no evidence that utilizing our tax dollars for testing and treatment benefits either the military as a whole or individuals for whom TRT itself poses serious side effects. Thanks, Pete!

The Senate could possibly vote this week on the Clarity Act, a bill disguised as “crypto regulation,” which doesn’t protect consumers, doesn’t close money laundering loophole, and doesn’t stop the biggest threat of all—Trump’s crypto-fueled bribery machine. Instead, it rewards the billionaires and bad actors at the center of today’s crypto chaos, who’ve spent hundreds of millions in campaign contributions and are now expecting the Act’s passage as their reward.  

Todd Blanche, Trump’s most dangerous Cabinet nominee, has demonstrated by his willingness to carry out Trump’s illegal and unconstitutional orders why he’s completely unqualified to be Attorney-General. For his nomination to go forward after consideration by the Judiciary Committee on July 15 and 16, requires rejection of the long-held principle that the A-G is our lawyer, not the President’s and approval of the further weaponization of the DOJ against Trump’s perceived enemies. His confirmation must be stopped, either in committee on the Senate floor. 

On this Fourth of July, 250 years after our founding, we were again staring down the threat of tyranny, but, like our forebears who fought to free us from the English king, we won’t succumb to Trump’s dictatorial designs. Instead, we will work to elect representatives committed to creating this “more perfect union,” a multiracial, multicultural, pluralistic democracy that works for all Americans, not just the rich and powerful.

Trump, a temporary resident, is treating the White House, its grounds, Washington’s parks and monuments, and the U.S Treasury as if they belong to him, rather than the American people. Congress cannot allow him to misappropriate funds to create unauthorized monuments to himself. It must promise, instead, to use taxpayer dollars to obviate the miseries he’s created for the American people with his tariffs, his wars, and his massive cuts to necessary services. 

Last Friday, FISA Section 702 expired over leadership’s refusal to add significant protections against unfettered spying on Americans and concerns the newly appointed Bill Pulte would weaponize available information against Trump’s enemies as he’d done in his previous position. On Thursday, Trump nominated Jay Clayton, a less flamboyant but equally dangerous hatchet man, trying to jump start both Clayton’s quick confirmation and Section 702’s renewal. Our MoCs cannot fall for this trap. They must stand strong, opposing both the unqualified Clayton and Section 702’s reauthorization without significant reforms.

To weaponize national intelligence, Trump just appointed Bill Pulte, his ludicrously unqualified and massively dangerous political attack dog, Acting Director of National Intelligence. Congress must refuse to even consider reauthorizing FISA Section 702, one of our most objectionable and widely abused surveillance policies, which Trump badly wants, until Pulte’s removed and the statute is amended to protect Americans from warrantless surveillance by eliminating “backdoor searches” and the “data broker loophole.”
