To Our Indivisible Oregon Community,
At Indivisible Oregon, we believe democracy works best when everyday people participate. We believe in fairness, inclusion, respect, and a seat at the table for every voice. We believe communities are strongest when neighbors stand together and that ordinary people, acting with courage and conviction, have the power to shape history.
Today, as millions of Americans cast their ballots in one of the most consequential elections of our lifetime, we see those values reflected in action. We see them in every conversation you started, every door you knocked on, every call you made, every postcard you wrote, and every moment you chose to stand up for democracy.
Thank you.
Thank you to the volunteers who gave evenings, weekends, and days off because democracy was worth their time. Thank you to the postcard writers who helped send more than 150,000 letters and postcards to voters, the callers who reached more than 15,000 households, and the canvassers who knocked on thousands of doors across our communities.
Thank you to those who attended town halls, organized protests and rallies, called elected officials, designed websites, created educational materials, staffed events, trained volunteers, shared newsletters, donated resources, carried signs, and brought friends and family into this movement. Thank you to the artists, builders, and organizers who devoted countless hours and their own resources to create the towering puppets that helped lead each march while exposing the fascist monsters and inspiring so many to join our cause. Thank you to those who marched in the heat and the rain, stood in the cold, showed up when it was inconvenient, and kept showing up when the work became difficult. Whether you joined us once or answered the call every single time, your dedication, courage, and commitment helped build the movement we are today.
You showed up for your neighbors. You showed up for your community. You showed up for future generations.
And that matters.
The impact of your work cannot be measured only in doors knocked or calls completed. It lives on in every voter who felt heard, every person who felt empowered, and every neighbor who discovered they were not alone. Together, you built something larger than any one campaign or election: a community rooted in solidarity, compassion, and the conviction that a better future is possible.
As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reminded us, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
You refused to be silent.
You chose hope over cynicism. Action over despair. Community over isolation. Democracy over apathy.
Because of your dedication, our movement is stronger today than it was yesterday.
No matter what happens tonight, you have already made a difference.
Before this Election Day comes to a close, we ask you to do three more things.
First, make one more call.
Reach out to a friend, family member, or fellow volunteer who stood beside you on this journey. Thank them. Remind them that none of us does this work alone. Every movement for justice is built by people standing shoulder to shoulder, refusing to give up on each other and refusing to give up on the future.
Second, celebrate.
Celebrate this community and all that we have built together. Celebrate the volunteers, organizers, educators, activists, first-time participants, and lifelong advocates who made this work possible. Take a moment to recognize the extraordinary thing we have created together: a community bound not by fear, but by hope; not by division, but by solidarity; not by anger, but by a shared commitment to justice and democracy.
Third, be ready.
Democracy is not a single election. It is a lifelong commitment to one another.
Tonight, take a breath. Reflect on what we have accomplished together. Be proud of the role you played in strengthening our democracy.
Then be ready.
Because the election may be ending, but our work is not.
On Thursday, Indivisible Oregon will resume publication of our newsletter, and we encourage every member, volunteer, and supporter to read it carefully. We will outline the important actions ahead, the challenges we may face, and the opportunities we have to continue defending democratic values, protecting our communities, and advancing justice.
There will be moments in the days ahead that call for courage, persistence, and resolve. There will be opportunities that require us to stand together once again. When those moments arrive, we know who will answer the call.
You will.
Because you always have.
Together, we will continue the work of protecting democracy, advancing justice, demanding accountability and building a future worthy of the generations that follow us.
In solidarity,
Indivisible Oregon
