The Fight for Voting Rights Isn’t Over
This summer, we’ve watched voting rights rolled back yet again especially across the South, where districts have been re‑gerrymandered to lock in Republican power. We’ve heard the president relentlessly push his SAVE Act, a proposal that could block millions from voting. We don’t know whether he will deploy ICE to intimidate voters or try to seize ballots he calls “fraudulent.” The threat feels real because it is real.
But we are not powerless.
We are winning in the courts. We are winning in voter registration. We are winning in turnout. We are winning in the polls.
Still, a close election is far easier to undermine than a landslide rejection of Trump’s Republican enablers. Our work cannot slow down not now, not when he is already claiming the election will be stolen from him.
Some of the students who risked their lives in 1964 are now in their 80s. They are watching us. They are hoping we rise to this moment as they once did. And we will. We will not be deterred by PAC money, misinformation, or threats. We will not be silenced or intimidated. This may be the most important election of our lifetimes because we are fighting for our future, our families, our freedoms, and the soul of our democracy.
We carry their legacy. We carry their courage. And we are going to win.
