Knock on doors with Ground Truth and Indivisible Oregon in Oregon City

Join Swing Left for a Ground Truth canvass—designed to help Democrats rebuild trust, win tough races, and flip the House. We’re launching an innovative new program that will revolutionize how we connect with voters and potential voters at their doors.

At this canvass, we’ll:

  • Knock on every door in the neighborhood, not just the same voters campaigns usually talk to.

  • Have real conversations that listen deeply to voters’ concerns.

  • Gather insights to share with campaigns, so they can be responsive to voters’ needs and smarter with their messaging, targeting, and outreach.

Don’t worry if it’s your first time—training, materials, and support are all provided. Just bring comfortable shoes, a charged phone, and your passion for making a difference.

About the program

This isn’t traditional canvassing—it’s a whole new way of talking to voters. Together, we’ll gather authentic insights from communities, use cutting-edge tools to capture what we hear, and share it back with campaigns to strengthen their efforts.

  • Why we’re starting early: We launched a year ahead of the midterms to build power before campaigns got off the ground.

  • How we’ll go big: knocking every door, not just the ones the voter database tells us to, so every conversation builds a more complete picture of the electorate.

  • How we’ll go deep: practicing empathetic listening and real conversations that uncover voters’ “ground truth,” not just checking boxes on a script.

Paid for by Swing Left, Swingleft.org, not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.

Volunteer Orientation - Learn How To Support a Canvass & Phonebank

Knocking on voters’ doors & calling voters on the phone isn’t for everyone. Flipping the House and winning the entire congress IS for everyone! That’s where Canvassing & Phone Banking without Canvassing or Making Calls comes in.

In partnership with Ground Truth, a project of Swing Left, we are charting a new way of connecting with voters. We are listening, not telling. We are talking with everyone, regardless of affiliation. We are empathizing with common concerns.

Our goal is an uncontestable, large-margin win to keep Oregon’s swing fifth congressional district Blue. Our purpose is also an accountable congress and a durable democracy.

But we know that knocking on doors and phone banking isn’t for everyone. What can you do without knocking on a single door? You can do TONS!

Indivisible Oregon has more demand for Ground Truth door knocking & phone banking than we can organize events for. We are ramping up our capacity to hold events and engage thousands more voters by the fall.

Yes, you CAN support a canvass or phonebank without canvassing or making calls. There are critical roles to be filled before, during, and after an event.

Successful events require happy canvassers & phone bankers, which requires someone like you to be there for them.

Don’t worry if it’s your first time—training, materials, and support are all provided. Just bring comfortable shoes, a charged phone, and your passion for making a difference.

Ground Truth: New Volunteer Orientation

Get involved with Ground Truth—Swing Left’s innovative, people-powered program that’s helping Democrats win back power by reimagining how we talk with voters. In this 30-minute orientation, you'll learn how to make an impact from anywhere, no matter your schedule or preferred type of action. Whether you want to knock doors, call voters, help recruit volunteers, or more, we need all hands on deck.

Why Ground Truth? The 2026 midterms are our next big chance to unseat Republicans and reverse the creep of authoritarian politics. Flipping the House is step one in checking this administration's agenda and building toward a full-fledged Democratic trifecta in 2028. But we can't keep talking to the same voters in the same way and expect a different result. With Ground Truth, we will:

  • Go big by talking to all swing district voters, not just likely Dems, because traditional voter contact too often misses persuadable voters.

  • Listen deeply to voters’ real-world concerns, including specific challenges faced in their communities, starting earlier than ever.

  • Using brand-new technology, directly share on-the-ground insights and rich data to strengthen the most competitive Democratic House campaigns.

Whether you're new to Swing Left or you've been with us from the beginning, this orientation is a great place to learn how to join the Ground Truth team!

Paid for by Swing Left, Swingleft.org, not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.

NO ICE, NO WAR, NO TRUMP — Honk & Wave with Indivisible Oregon

  • Northeast 21st Avenue & Northeast Broadway Portland, OR, 97232 United States (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Join your neighbors and fellow Portlanders for a family-friendly Honk & Wave event. We stand united against the horrific ICE abuses and the murder of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. And we reject our bully and corrupt grifter-in-chief, his spineless billionaire capitulators, and his MAGA political cronies.

And we are united in opposition to a single man using our military as his own personal army and committing this nation to war, all for his own ego.

We’re building a local movement and we need YOU! Let’s make democracy visible, energizing and show it’s worth fighting for. When we show up, we inspire others to do the same, because courage is contagious.

🗽 Bring a sign! 🗽Bring your voice! 🗽Bring your friends, kids, and neighbors!

Whether you stay for 15 minutes or the whole time, your presence counts.

🚗 Parking: Along Williams or Fremont, or the adjacent side streets.

Indivisible Oregon are deeply committed to nonviolence as both a principle and a strategy. We strongly believe that peaceful, nonviolent activism offers social movements the most power to effect change.

Ground Truth Phone Bank

Join Swing Left for a Ground Truth phone bank—designed to fix what’s broken in Democratic organizing. We’re launching an innovative new program that will revolutionize how we connect with voters over the phone.

Our goal: to help Democrats rebuild trust, win tough races, and flip the House. We're bringing people together to build the community of real people, having real conversations with real people. During Ground Truth phone banks, we will talk to as many people as possible and focus on listening.

At this phone bank, we’ll:

  • Call ALL types of voters -- not just those who vote like us.

Just come prepared with your phone and laptop or computer!

We recommend using earbuds or using speakerphone to free up your hands as well!

NO KINGS III

Everybody, Everywhere, All at Once

For No Kings III, “Everybody, Everywhere, All at Once” means occupy your own street corner on the morning of Saturday, March 28th, then come join the large afternoon rally in Portland’s Waterfront Park.

Join a family-friendly group of neighbors at one of Indivisible Oregon’s three Portland corners that morning. (More may be added if there’s demand.)

Then head over to the big event at the waterfront.

Many other Indivisible groups are hosting their own local visibility events on March 28th. Check out what other Indivisible groups are doing below, or at NoKings.org.

Can’t make it in person? Choose an alternative way to make your voice heard!

A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.

Indivisible Tuesday

Join Indivisible Oregon on Zoom on the 4th Tuesday of each month for a discussion with Oregon Members of Congress. For 2026 we plan a new format to give our members a more substantive understanding of the issues facing our country and our democracy.

We plan to engage two different Representatives each month, for 30-minute interviews with Don McIntosh, with follow-up publication to NW Labor Press.

Following the interview, there will be a community discussion for about one-half hour, moderated by an Indivisible Oregon organizer.

Responding to our Representatives’ scheduling concerns, these sessions will be held from 5:00 – 6:30 pm.

We look forward to this new format, for deeper conversations with Oregon members of Congress!
