***IMMEDIATE ACTION*** THANK MEMBERS OF CONGRESS FOR WORKING TO MAKE OUR LIVES BETTER [9-30-25]
As constituents, it is our responsibility to push our elected officials to better protect our interests. And, when they work hard on our behalf, we should show our appreciation.
Here, in Oregon, our MoCs are holding strong on two fronts—in standing up for our healthcare needs, even if that means a government shutdown tonight, and in pushing back against Trump’s illegal nationalization of the Oregon National Guard and its deployment to Portland with authorization to use “full force, if necessary.”
While Republicans control the House, Senate, and White House, they’re steering us towards a wasteful, destructive government shutdown. Democrats, despite their minority status, are committed to protecting Americans’ access to healthcare—reversing cuts to Medicaid and medical research and permanently extending ACA tax credits for the 24 million Americans buying their own coverage—and to including strong guardrails that prevent Trump from clawing back congressionally appropriated funds.
Despite healthcare access’ popularity, even among Republicans, Trump and his MAGA lackeys prefer even being blamed for shutting down the government rather than negotiating.
So far, Democrats in both Houses are bravely holding the line to fight for healthcare, defend the rule of law, and block congressional Republicans from handing Trump blank checks. And, in Oregon, our MoCs, along with state and local officials, are fighting back against Trump’s attempts to blanket Portland and our state with unneeded federal forces.
We must thank them for what they’re doing, tell them to continue fighting, and urge them to both daily paint pictures of Trump’s cruelty and authoritarianism and remind us who’s to blame for our ongoing suffering.
