***IMMEDIATE ACTION***NO JIM CROW 2.0: SENATE MUST KILL THE SAVE AMERICA ACT [03-19-26]
On Tuesday, over the objection of all Democrats and one Republican, the Senate began debating the SAVE America Act, which would disenfranchise the millions of Americans unable to prove citizenship with a birth certificate or passport matching their legal names and effectively destroy online and mail-in voter registration, voter registration drives, and vote-by-mail.
The "problem" supposedly fixed—noncitizen voting—is already illegal and virtually nonexistent.
While Trump and his MAGA lackeys falsely claim this legislation’s a reasonable “voter ID” bill, it’s actual purpose is silencing Americans and manipulating election results:
· The 146 million American citizens (half our voting population) without passports, the 69+ million married people who’ve taken their spouse’s name, and those changing their names for other reasons would all be presumptively unable to register or vote
· States, required to supply DHS with their registered voter lists, would have to purge those voters the DHS Secretary demanded
Trump’s claims at a GOP retreat—that passage would “guarantee the midterms” and ensure GOP supremacy for 50 years—makes its true purpose clear.
Americans are concerned about the Iran war, the affordability crisis, threats to democracy, ICE’s excesses, and the Epstein files. None, other than Trump and his lackeys, believe this legislation’s passage is our most important problem.
Nevertheless, the Senate’s already wasted 2 legislative days debating this bill. As long as Democrats remain united and Republicans don’t scrap the filibuster—which many fear doing—it won’t pass.
Let’s thank our Senators for staying united, using their time productively to discredit this extreme anti-voting legislation, and remaining committed to killing it—and relay our thanks to the other Senators protecting our cherished right to vote.
ACTION One: Call the Senate.
