***IMMEDIATE ACTION***NO FUNDING FOR TRUMP’S SHAM “BOARD OF PEACE” [05-14-26]

On January 15, 2026, Trump announced the formation of his Board of Peace, whose ostensible mandate was to oversee the reconstruction of Gaza—a nimble alternative to the United Nations. A month later, without Congress's approval, Trump declared that the United States would contribute $ 10 billion toward his project.

Although still in an embryonic phase, it’s clear the Board of Peace is a combined vanity project and unsupervised business venture branded as a humanitarian effort. As its designated Board Chair for life, Trump has absolute power and sole authority to alter the charter. While excluding Palestinians from serving on the Board, thereby denying them any role in their homeland’s future, he did appoint an Israeli businessman.

Trump intends the Board to have unfettered access to land, water, and other critical resources—making it a colonial project ripe for pillage. Many also fear Trump will turn Gaza into a real estate bonanza replete with hotels, golf courses, and beachside resorts—his version of the “Riviera of the Middle East”—while paying little attention to the pressing needs of its two million displaced Gazans.

The response to Trump’s project has been overwhelmingly negative. America’s closest allies all refused to join, only a handful of the 60 nations invited agreed to become permanent members, and none paid the $1 billion entrance fee which would guarantee them privileged investment rights.

The Guardian called it a “pay-to-play club: a global version of his Mar-a-Lago court aimed at supplanting the UN,” and we share Representative Jamie Raskin’s view that the Board is a slush fund designed to funnel money to Trump.

Our message to our MoCs: Congress must not authorize a penny of taxpayer money for this corrupt project.
