AMERICANS DON’T WANT THEIR MONEY SPENT ON TRUMP’S SECRET POLICE AND GILDED PALACE: VOTE “NO” ON RECILIATION BILL
QUICK READ: At the same time families are getting crushed by the price of groceries, gas, housing, and healthcare, Trump and his MAGA lackeys are preparing to spend their taxpayer dollars to separate families, warehouse human being, militarize our neighborhoods, and fund Trump’s gilded palace, rather than lowering costs for working families. BACKGROUND
MAGA Republicans want to appropriate $70 billion, above the $191 billion awarded in 2025, to fund ICE and CBP (Border Patrol) through 2027 and $1 billion for Trump’s vanity ballroom. To meet Trump’s arbitrary deadline of June 1, legislation must pass both chambers before their scheduled recess beginning Friday evening.
Unwilling to negotiate over Democrats’ proposals to rein in these agencies’ illegal, unconstitutional, and highly unpopularbehavior, Trump’s lackeys are using the reconciliation process, which avoids a Senate filibuster and allows passing with just 51 votes.
Ignoring both DHS’ wasteful and reckless mismanagement and the true cost to working families of Trump’s deportations, estimated at $2150/year by 2028 for the average family, with grocery prices rising from $165 to $195/week and home prices increasing by nearly $50,000, Trump’s minions want to pour additional billions of taxpayer dollars into mass detention, raids, family separation, and Trump’s ballroom—a fortified luxury venue for political elites which supposedly was being privately funded.
At a time when working people are struggling to cover medical bills, put food on the table, and gas up the car, it’s obscene for elected officials to take $72 billion from us to separate families, warehouse human beings, militarize our neighborhoods, and fund Trump’s gilded monument, rather than using it to provide Medicaid for 2.5 million or medical care for 1+ million veterans, fund full-time SNAP benefits for 9l4 million, or enroll 1.2+ million in Head Start.
Our MoCs must force this legislation’s proponents to publicly oppose the many amendments to replace its provisions with funding for the things working families want and need.
