Make an impact in 2 minutes
have a big impact
Make a two-minute phone call to your U.S. Representative and your U.S. Senators and urge them to take specific action on a timely issue. We provide scripts to make it easy. Just select one of the Actions below to get started.
Why is this so important? Our phone calls fire up our Members of Congress, stiffen their spines, and push them to fight harder. We let them know that we're paying attention – and we have their back when they go out on a limb. Make sure to call your own U.S. Representative and both Senators – they are the ones who represent you!
Neutralize The Insurrection
The insurrection did not end on January 6. It continues to be stoked by the “Big Lie” that Trump actually won. To neutralize the insurrection, we need the findings from a January 6 Commission and passage of S.1 and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.
Back Biden’s Budget
Biden’s budget tells us what he values: reducing poverty and inequality, and ending the climate crisis. McConnell said that he is “100%” focused on “stopping” Biden. The clock is ticking. Democrats must pass spending bills that reflect Biden’s -- and our -- values before it’s too late.
INFRASTRUCTURE MUST INVEST IN US
We have the chance to have an infrastructure plan that is based in racial justice and moves America in a progressive direction. We can have this future if Congressional Democrats stay strong and fight for us. Call our Members of Congress today.
Fight for Our Freedom to Vote
Biden warned yesterday that “democracy is in peril.” We can fight for and strengthen our democracy by pulling down the barriers that subvert the freedom to vote for People of Color.
Veteran Casualties of Racist Terror
Today, as we remember those who died in combat, we pause to reflect on veterans who, upon returning from war, died in domestic acts of racist terror. Today, we pledge to do all we can to end racist policies, racist terror, and racist violence. Today, though our MoCs' offices are closed, we can still leave messages asking them to join us.
The Filibuster Must Go Now
The Senate can no longer put off confronting the filibuster. Majority Leader Schumer must force the GOP to filibuster bills with widespread bipartisan support now languishing in the Senate. This is the only way to demonstrate to the country and wavering Democratic Senators that the GOP’s real agenda is delay and obstruction. Failure to act decisively now will cause our democracy to wither and die.
Keep Up The Drumbeat
The For the People and John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Acts protect our freedom to vote. The Judiciary Act of 2021 protects this legislation from an anti-voter SCOTUS. Join us to call and press our MoCs daily to pass all three. We will persist. We will prevail.
Stand Up for Democracy
"Though I am gone, I urge you to answer the highest calling of your heart and stand up for what you truly believe (John Lewis)." We ask our MoCs to stand up for democracy and the JLVRAA. We ask them to stand up for adding to it review and, if indicated, reversal of any voting laws enacted after the 2013 SCOTUS decision that gutted the 1965 VRA.
A NOTE TO THE FISH
We are the guardians of America’s democracy. Ours is the world’s longest-running experiment in self-government, an ingenious mechanism for improving life. But our democracy’s survival is not automatic. We protect and strengthen our democracy by fighting to extend its privileges to everyone.
WE MUST HAVE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR ATTACKING DEMOCRACY
There must be accountability for attacking democracy. Democrats must see the GOP’s feigning compromise for what it is - wielding super minority rule to keep power. Democrats must help all Americans, whatever their party, by passing the vital legislation we all need.
ACT FOR OUR FREEDOM TO VOTE
We are the ones who will protect our freedom to vote – building on the work that generations of activists, particularly Black activists, have done before us. Join Indivisible Oregon to show the GOP our 2020 victories were the beginning of progressive change. Our time is now.
PROTECT OUR FREEDOM TO VOTE
America needs a healthy democracy as much as it needs a healthy populace and a healthy infrastructure. Failure to pass the For The People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act is not an option.
Democracies Fail Without Racial Justice
Democracy cannot coexist with white supremacism. The freedom to live and to vote without fear matters, for our democracy and to our humanity. Join us to advocate for the George Floyd Justice in Policing and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Acts. Together, we continue the work to realize democracy's promise for all.
PASSING S.1 WILL STOP THE HACKING OF OUR DEMOCRACY
Underpinning any democracy is the freedom to vote, which is under attack by the GOP, with the help of the Heritage Foundation and the Roberts Court. To preserve our democracy, the Senate must act swiftly, reforming the filibuster so that it can pass S. 1 and rebalancing the federal courts by passing the Judiciary Act.
PRO-DEMOCRACY LEGISLATION REQUIRES PRO-DEMOCRACY COURTS
Underpinning any democracy is the freedom to vote, which is under attack by the GOP, with the help of the Heritage Foundation and the Roberts Court. To preserve our democracy, the Senate must act swiftly, reforming the filibuster so that it can pass S. 1 and rebalancing the federal courts by passing the Judiciary Act.
Why call your Members of Congress
Members of Congress have told us repeatedly that our calls matter. When they meet with their colleagues in Congress, they say "I'm getting swamped with calls about this illegal power grab. We need to take action."
If you're represented by Democrats: They are our best defense in Washington DC. They can throw sand in the gears of the Trump regime by using tools such as parliamentary procedures. And they have the power to call attention to particular issues via press, social media, special events. In short: our elected officials have power, and we must push them to wield it.
If you're represented by Republicans: Our calls let them know just how unpopular their actions are. We make them nervous, even if they don't show it. We make it hard for them to take actions that hurt Americans.
Calling tips
State your name, your zip code or neighborhood, and why you're calling
Stick to one issue per call
Don't worry about getting pulled into a debate -- the staffer will simply document your message.
Be respectful. The person on the other end of the line is likely a staffer who handles numerous calls daily. Being polite makes your message more likely to be heard and taken seriously.
Use personal stories when possible. When you share how an issue affects you personally, or why it matters to you, your message is more likely to resonate and be remembered.
