***IMMEDIATE ACTION***TRUMP’S GLOBAL MILITARISM MUST BE STOPPED [2026-07-29]
During Trump’s first term, he fiercely criticized his predecessors’ wars. In his 2024 campaign, he promised to be the candidate of peace and recently bragged he’d ended eight wars.
Nothing could be farther from the truth. In the past 16 months, his administration launched hundreds of illegal military operations, most notably President Nicolas Maduro and Trump's capture and his war of choice against Iran.
The media, focused on Maduro and Iran, largely ignored the death and destruction U.S. aggression caused elsewhere:
· Beginning in November 2024, American forces conducted 200 airstrikes against Islamic militants in Somalia, preposterously claiming they posed a “serious danger to the American homeland;”
· During March and April 2005, they launched preemptive air and naval attacks against the Houthis in Yemen, arguing they’d threatened American ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz;
· On Christmas Day 2025, they bombed Islamic militants in northern Nigeria for supposedly engaging in a holy war against Christians—a charge the Nigerian government denied;
· Over the past 8 months, they conducted 62 strikes on alleged, drug-carrying boats in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific, executing more than 200 defenseless civilians on board without proof of criminality.
Congress remained silent when Trump illegally declared war against Venezuela and Iran and closed its eyes to the violence American forces committed elsewhere, unquestioningly accepting the White House’s specious allegations.
This behavior cannot continue. Instead, Congress must: (1) reassert its exclusive, constitutionally-enshrined, war-making authority; (2) condemn the Trump administration’s audacious and illegal warmongering that violates both domestic and international law and (3) preclude further illegal military operations by withholding the funds Trump needs to carry them out.
