STOP TRUMP’S CORRUPT MILITARY FROM WASTING TAXPAYER FUNDS: IMPEACH HEGSETH AND DEFUND THE ILLEGAL IRAN WAR

QUICK READ: Faced with an out-of-control Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, who’s politicizing the military and destroying its command structure, and a $1.5 billion bloated Defense budget proposed by a President engaged in a badly mismanaged illegal and unconstitutional war in Iran, Congress cannot continue ignoring its constitutional duty. Instead, the Senate must continue opposing this obscene largest-than-ever military budget and the House must push for Hegseth’s immediate impeachment.

CONTENTS:

BACKGROUND

For months we’ve demanded Congress reassert its warmaking powers, rein in Pete Hegseth, and stop the billions supporting Trump’s illegal Iran war instead of funding the programs American families need to survive and prosper.

Nevertheless, Trump demanded the largest ever $1.5 billion military budget with a 10% decrease in domestic spending, further gutting the social service programs on which millions of Americans rely.

Instead of requiring accountability, House Republicans approved a $1.15 billion budget (with the rest included in a future party-line reconciliation package), which included, among other provisions, anti-trans amendments, and integration of Israeli defense systems into our supply chain.

Because the Iran war remains unauthorized, it provided more weapons to Israel without oversight, and its obscene price tag, rather than paying for weapons and military contractors, should fund making communities healthier, safer, and more secure, Senate Democrats are blocking its consideration.

The House also has work to do. Despite 6 pending impeachment articles, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth continues to undermine our military and compromise our national security:

ACTION One: Call the Senate.

Thank you for continuing to fight against Trump’s forever war in Iran and pushing for programs Americans need. Please keep fighting (1) for a budget that invests in American families, rather than weapons and defense contractors, (2) to rein in this out-of-control President by refusing to fund either his war of choice in Iran or any future war that has not preceded by congressional authorization, (3) to cut, not increase, the bloated Pentagon budget, and (5) to prevent further military integration with Israel.

Your constituents want this war to end and for their dollars to be used to improve their cost-of living, not for weapons and defense contractors. It’s time you listened to them and supported their needs rather than Trump’s and his coterie of billionaires’.

ACTION TWO: Call the House.

Thank you for continuing to oppose Trump’s unauthorized war in Iran and for standing together and voting against Trump’s bloated NDAA. But, your work is not yet done because Pete Hegseth continues to destroy our armed forces, undermine our military and compromise our national security. Please sign on as a co-sponsor of H.Res. 1177, convince its authors to update Hegseth’s crimes, push for its consideration on the House floor and for investigation of all of Hegseth’s misbehavior. At a minimum, you should discuss his transgressions with your constituents to build support for future investigations and impeachment actions.

Pete Hegseth is destroying our military, causing it generational damage, and compromising our national security. He also regularly lies to Congress and the public about the war’s costs, casualties, and military outcomes. If you really care about a strong and effective military, it is time for him to go.
