***IMMEDIATE ACTION***Trump’s Illegal Aggression Against Cuba Is Killing Innocent People [2026-09-14]
On September 3, Secretary of State Rubio imposed economic sanctions on Cuba’s Oil Industry Supply Import Company, which imports the critical equipment and spare parts needed to sustain its crumbling power grid, intensifying the January 2026 oil blockade and ratcheting up our decades-long campaign of destabilization through economic warfare aimed at making Cubans’ lives so miserable that they’ll rise up and overthrow their government.
Since January Cuba’s endured:
Six nationwide grid collapses, leaving 9 million without power;
Fuel shortages stalling transportation, disrupting food supplies, and creating acute water shortages for 2.5 million;
Near collapse of its once-renowned healthcare system, with 100,000 surgeries delayed, including 12,000 for children;
More than a doubling of the infant mortality rate.
Long obsessed with regime change, Rubio’s also threatened military intervention, echoing Trump’s preposterous claim that Cuba’s “[export of] subversive Marxist ideology to the United States and the Western Hemisphere” made it a national security threat. The White House’s recent deployment of the U.S.S. Nimitz Carrier Strike Group to the region and increased surveillance flights reinforced this message.
Congress must immediately reassert its war powers, forcing Trump’s cessation of this unauthorized economic and military escalation by passing pending War Powers Resolutions (H.J.Res. 153/S.J.Res.163), which would block the use of force against Cuba and end the illegal blockade. Waiting until November’s lame-duck session would be unconscionable, because every week it fails to act puts the lives of thousands of innocent people at risk.
